This week, the US women's gymnastics team won the gold medal at the Olympic final!
Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history, and her teammates — Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera — finished top in all four disciplines: floor, uneven bars, vault, and balance beam.
When posting about their iconic win on Instagram, Simone seemingly threw a little shade at her former teammate MyKayla Skinner, who competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics as part of the US gymnastics team.
If you missed it, MyKayla made controversial remarks about Team USA in a since-deleted YouTube video earlier this month. She said, “Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn't like what it used to be. The girls just don't have the work ethic.”
MyKayla’s comments garnered widespread backlash, and she later claimed that people had “misinterpreted” her words.
Simone seemingly responded at the time with a brief yet direct note on Threads. “Not everyone needs a mic and a platform,” she wrote.
And now, Simone appears to have shaded MyKayla once again.
Alongside several photos of her team celebrating their Olympic win, Simone wrote on Instagram, “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions.”
Needless to say, Instagram users were obsessed with the caption:
Olympic athlete McKayla Maroney left this hilarious comment about the apparent shade: “It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name.”
Meanwhile, Simone’s husband, Jonathan Owens, wrote, “F AROUND AND FIND OUT” — which, Simone recently revealed, is Team USA's NSFW nickname.
