It’s been roughly seven months since Selena Gomez publicly shared that she’s in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco.
If you missed it, Selena confirmed the reports of her relationship with Benny in December when she fiercely defended their romance in response to several Instagram comments questioning it.
Ever since, things between the pair have continued to go from strength to strength. The couple frequently shares sweet social media tributes to one another and has briefly discussed their plans for the future.
During a May appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Benny revealed that his “next goal” in life is to become a parent. When asked if he’s discussed having children with Selena, he said, “It’s always a topic of conversation to me every day.”
Meanwhile, Selena told Time of her and Benny’s relationship: “It just happens when you least expect it… It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere any time soon.”
This week, Selena commented on a fan-made TikTok video from June that suggested that the “old” version of her would “never” date Benny.
“I know and so do you that at the time she would never have gotten engaged to Benny, she was in her IT GIRL era,” the TikTok was captioned. The video showed old footage of Selena walking through a crowd of fans and paparazzi. The song “Company,” by Selena’s ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, played in the background of the TikTok.
The fan shared the video in June, and Selena posted her thoughts in the comments this Monday.
She wrote, “Kinda makes me laugh because I was so depressed back then lol.”
Selena’s comment comes months after she discussed her fans’ “hurtful” remarks about her and Benny’s relationship.
“My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life,” she shared during an interview with Time. “But [Benny] has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him.”
