This week, former US president Donald Trump falsely suggested that Taylor Swift has endorsed him.
Trump, who is currently running against Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election, took to his social media site, Truth, this week to repost a bunch of photos claiming Taylor’s endorsement shared by right-wing X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
One of the photos, which displayed a false news headline about a “Swifties For Trump” movement, featured the word “satire” printed in capital letters. Other images showed several women wearing T-shirts that read “Swifties For Trump.” While some of these photos seemed AI-generated, one appeared real.
Another fake photo showed Taylor in a USA-themed top hat alongside the text, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” Alongside the photos, Trump wrote, “I accept!”
To clarify, Taylor has not publicly endorsed any presidential candidate this year. She did, however, showcase her support for Joe Biden and Kamala back in 2020.
Several fans speculated that Taylor would endorse the Democratic party this year when a photo she shared from her Eras Tour featured a silhouette resembling Kamala. However, the person in question turned out to be one of Taylor’s backup dancers.
