From Che Diaz To Samantha Jones, This Is Why “And Just Like That...” Fans Are Theorizing That Somebody Will Be Killed Off In Season 3

After the cast were spotted filming what appears to be a funeral scene on Monday, fans have some theories about who might be getting killed off.

In case you missed it, the third season of Sex and the City’s sequel series, And Just Like That..., is currently filming in New York City, and is anticipated to hit our screens next year.

While we will have to wait and see what is in store for Carrie Bradshaw and co. this time around, there are a couple of things that we already know to expect in the upcoming season.

For starters, Sara Ramirez’s seriously divisive character, Che Diaz, will not be returning, and neither will Nya Wallace, played by Karen Pittman.

On the other hand, paparazzi photos taken during filming confirm that John Corbett will once again reprise his role of Aidan Shaw after Aidan and Carrie’s relationship was left hanging in the balance at the end of Season 2.

Other returning faces — aside from the core cast, of course — are Sebastiano Pigazzi, who played Anthony’s love interest Giuseppe in Season 2...

...And Miranda’s new love interest Joy, played by Dolly Wells, who have both been confirmed as series regulars.

Meanwhile, comic Rosie O’Donnell has joined the cast and will be playing a new character called Mary, with Logan Marshall-Green, Mehcad Brooks, and Jonathan Cake also set to make their AJLT debuts this season.

In addition, Saturday Night Live star Cheri Oteri confirmed on Instagram that she will be appearing in some of the upcoming episodes.

Kim Cattrall, however, recently shot down speculation that she will be returning to our screens for Season 3 after reportedly receiving a huge payday for her brief cameo as her Sex and the City character Samantha Jones at the end of Season 2.

After it was reported that Kim had agreed to return as Samantha so long as she didn’t have any scenes with Sarah Jessica amid their well-documented feud, Kim set the record straight on X on Sunday.


Responding to a news article with the headline: “It Looks Like #KimCattrall (aka Samantha Jones) Will Be Back For 'And Just Like That...' Season 3 After All!,” Kim wrote: “Aw that’s so kind but I’m not.”

And on Monday, an apparent spoiler for Season 3 hit the internet when the cast were pictured filming what appeared to be a funeral.

Social media went into meltdown over the sight of Carrie, Aidan, Miranda, Charlotte, Seema, Harry, Anthony, and Giuseppe all wearing black as the actors shot on location in New York.

This immediately sparked a conversation over whose funeral the group could be attending, with the characters confirmed not to be returning next season at the top of the suspect list.

“They’re all going to Che Diaz’s funeral,” one person tweeted alongside a video from the set. Somebody else asked: “What if they are filming Samantha’s funeral?” 


While one more fan observed: “With the amount of POC in the background I’m going to venture a guess and say it’s Nya’s funeral since Karen Pittman left the show.”

However, some noted that the vibe captured in the photos doesn’t appear to be very somber, which suggests that this is not a funeral for somebody that any of the characters were particularly close to.

Dissecting the footage, Vogue wrote: “Walking hand in hand, Carrie and Aidan looked very much in love, and the former’s friends are seen greeting them with excitement. Given the ebullient atmosphere, it feels unlikely that the death in question will be of a significant main character, though it’s impossible to know for sure.”

And, of course, it is also possible that the group aren’t dressed for a funeral at all, and they could simply be attending an event with a strict dress code.

After all, And Just Like That... producers are no stranger to tricking fans when shooting on location. During filming for Season 1, Chris Noth was photographed in character as Mr. Big attending a funeral with the rest of the cast.


As fans will know, the funeral turned out to be for Mr. Big after he was killed off in the show’s very first episode — a move that left viewers stunned at the time. 


So, with this in mind, it is just as likely that this funeral is for somebody who is literally pictured in the shot as it is for an axed character. And, in a similar vein, it may not even be a funeral.

Only time will tell what And Just Like That... has up its sleeves for us next season, and I, for one, can’t wait to find out.
